There is a great deal of construction in the Tysons Corner area and more projects are still in the pipeline. Due to a number of new and planned apartment and condominium buildings, the number of people living in Tysons Corner is steadily increasing. While the new Silver Line Metro (whenever it opens) may help with some of the resulting traffic issues (some question that), there are other needs that will need to fulfilled – one of them being access to grocery stores.
Just a few years ago, there really was only one major grocery store in Tysons Corner – the old Safeway off Anderson Rd (sure, you still had Trader Joes and Whole Foods down Rt 7 but I would claim those are more of the specialty store type.)
